Ethiopian Prime Minister Advised to Mind His Own Business

The marionette Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Hailemariam Desalew

By TesfaNews,

Hailemariam Desalegn, the marionette prime minister of Ethiopia, has been advised to mind his own business after it has been noted for trying in vain to chastise a visiting European Union Ambassador for maintaining a cooperation framework with Eritrea.

In the middle of his dialogue last week about Article Eight of the Cotonou Agreement with Ambassador Chantal Hebberecht in Addis Ababa, the Prime Minister delved into an embarrassing diatribe against EU’s recent decision for the extension of the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) cycle to Eritrea.

Almost chidingly, Spokesperson and Eritrea’s Minister of Information Mr. Yemane G. Meskel lashes out at PM Hailemariam’s callousness and crude mendacity by saying,

The poor chap seems to have missed a central point that, EU-Eritrea ties and cooperation agreements are non of his government’s business!

Ever since the EU announced its intent to channel a multi-million Euro aid package to assist development programs in Eritrea, Ethiopia led anti-Eritrea groups and organisations started to cry foul.

According to the EU’s Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, the new multi-million Euro development package will mostly focus on enhancing energy infrastructure projects in the country.

Under the 11th EDF, the EU allocates a total of € 3 billion to support projects in the wider region of the Horn of Africa.

Relations between the EU and Eritrea date back to the first years of Eritrean Independence. The European Commission opened its Delegation in Asmara in 1995 and was one of the first diplomatic missions to be established.
