Alpha exploration drilling on the Aburna project on the Kerkasha license

Alpha Exploration Drills Highest Grade Gold at Aburna, Eritrea

Development News

The latest drilling results from Alpha Exploration in Eritrea – 15.33 g/t over 18m – confirms Aburna’s highest gold mineralization to date and was able to expand a high-grade zone.

Alpha Exploration reported on Friday about further results of a 10,000 m drilling program on the Aburna gold project on the 771 km ² large Kerkasha project in Eritrea. The holes include reverse circulation holes as well as diamond core holes. The results of 16 additional boreholes were reported.

The highlights according to the press release:

– 18 m @ 15.33 g / t Au from RC-DC hole ABD012 (Hill 52)
– 49 m with 2.75 g / t Au (including 7 m with 14.90 g / t Au) from the RC-DC borehole ABD013 (Hill 52)
– 6m @ 4.5 g / t Au and 2m @ 11.91 g / t Au from ABR114

So far the highest gold mineralization at Aburna

It is the most severe mineralization that has so far been carried out on the entire Aburna project. The holes expand a wide, high-grade zone to over 200 meters at Hill 52 and now confirm a flat, sloping geometry of gold mineralization in both the Central Area and Hill 52.

Borehole ABD012 was drilled as a foothill along the painting of an existing high grade mineralization, which also includes hole ABD001 (20 m @ 7.70 g / t Au). ABD013, an expansion stage of ABD012, contained two separate high-grade zones with 7 m @ 14.90 g / t Au and 2 m @ 6.19 g/t Au at a shallow depth (< 70m from the surface).

In combination, the ABD012 and ABD013 holes have significantly expanded a wide, high-grade mineralization zone that was defined by Alpha Exploration in 2022.

ABR114 further defined a separate mineralized structure within Hill 52.

Michael Hopley: “All our expectations exceeded”

Alpha Exploration CEO, Michael Hopley, classified the results as “spectacular. In particular, the holes ABD012 and ABD013 “exceeded all expectations” because the high-grade foothills originally discovered in 2022 had been extended to over 200 m.

The identification of near-surface, sloping, high-grade mineralization in Hill 52 after a similar confirmation in Central Area last month underlines the value of the work carried out.

According to Hopley, further drilling targets for expanding the zone are already being prepared. Drilling is expected to resume in the next few weeks.

Aburna is a large orogenic gold deposit with dimensions of at least 7 km in length and 2 km in width and one of the three important discoveries, Alpha Exploration has been on the Kerkasha license for the past three years.

Alpha’s previous exploration on the project defined six primary areas of interest and significant high-grade gold mineralization systems in the Central Area, Hill 52 and Northeast Area areas. [Source: MININGSCOUT]
